Dacre Dual Sport Challenge

PRESENTS

Dacre Dualsport Challenge

Date: TBA 2017

The BASIC'S

The Dacre Dualsport Challenge event is a "dual sport" event designed to honor and mimic the achievements of the competitors of the real DAKAR Rally in Europe and Africa and now South America.

The Dacre Dualsport Challenge ride is an example of what each competitor has to complete every day for the complete duration of the rally, and they did it for fifteen days, not just one!

As in the past this years' event is a "Challenge Concept Event". It is not a day tour, it's all about personal and bike preparation, machine reliability, self sufficiency, team work, planning, navigation and camaraderie. It is considered a level 5 on our difficulty scale.  Be aware that you will be relying on your partners and yourself to take care of any problems that may arise, we will only be providing assistance in extreme emergency situations. You are responsible for providing your own logistics if you leave the event for any reason, and you are also responsible for providing your own logistics to return from Dacre after the event is over!  The entire route will be “swept” by our crew, but they may be hours behind you.

All teams must enter as a team! NO SINGLE ENTRIES!

Enduro teams must stay in the 3 to 5 member guidelines!

ADV Teams Must stay in the 2 to 5 member guidelines!

Please read ALL of the following information before submitting online entry form!

RIDERS
It is stressed that this is a very long distance ride, a well rested, and healthy condition is essential. Riders must be respectful of the long distance involved and must be prepared to ride safely and steadily.
Maintain body fluid intake and calories. Have sufficient clothing for expected weather.

MACHINE
Road legal, Quiet (94dB standard test), "Dual Sport" motorcycles. (working lighting, horn, mirror etc.), in excellent condition. A basic technical inspection will have to be passed. If you don't pass Tech you will not ride. There will be NO exceptions!!
Routes are planned to accommodate bikes as widely ranging as a KTM 1190 R ADV to 250cc trail machines, 450cc machines with big gas tanks, being the ideal for the Enduro Class riders. Machines at the extreme ends of the scale will be at some disadvantage in the Enduro Class. It is recommended that you enter the ADV Class if you are not an expert ADV Big Bike rider .The route passes gas stations at approximately 150km intervals or less.

TIRES
Aggressive DOT knobbies only. (eg. Pirelli MT 21, Kenda Trackmasters, MotoZ Tractionators) No Exceptions!

SAFETY & EMERGENCIES
It is absolutely essential to observe all highway safety codes and regulations as public roads are used.
To participate in this event, riders will be required to be members of a "Team" (3-5 members).

EACH TEAM HAS TO MANAGE OWN EMERGENCIES OR BREAKDOWNS. (Leave no man alone or behind!).

A "Riders Card" will be provided containing emergency contact phone numbers, hospitals, support vehicle etc.  Teams suffering a mechanical failure, rider injury, running late are required to inform ride "help line" at the phone number/s provided on the "Riders Card". There is an absolute requirement to know the whereabouts of any entrant. If necessary, call 911 and request police, fire, ambulance etc.
Due to the long overall distance, riders / teams will be required to maintain a reasonable average speed. This requirement is for basic safety as long sections of the later part of this ride need to be ridden in daylight.

ROUTE SWEEPING
We will provide sweep riders for the main designated route only!! If you leave the course you are on your own!! Teams will and must be responsible for other team members. Every rider MUST be accounted for!
We will have a support vehicle shadowing the route, via a truck route in case of emergencies. This route will be available for team support vehicles if necessary.

ROUTE
GPS guided, routes consist of pavement, county gravel, un-assumed, forest access roads, power line, single track & 2two track trails. Some "water" crossings are included and mud is always possible through the day. Basic map and route notes will be provided. All participants will enjoy the same routing format, which is multiple routes consisting of 50 waypoints each.
Check points:
There will be many checkpoints throughout the day, to ensure that all riders are on course, and to track their progress.  Failing to stop at a checkpoint will eliminate your attendance marks for that portion of the course and remove your teams name from the finishers list.

Team Support Groups will be provided with separate road instructions on how to get to each of the pit stop locations.  Recommended time lines will be provided.  This is close to a Rally for the support groups as well.
