RallyConnex Tentative 2010 Event Schedule
Spring Training Tour - May 9, 2010
May 9 – Training Day – Bowmanville – The morning will be spent with brief GPS training, bike set-up and riding technique sessions. You will then follow a GPS route to the off road training center and rotate through several technical training sessions in small groups. As in previous years, a great emphasis will be placed on skills training. Lunch will again be provided. Afternoon sessions concentrate on off-road riding technique training and practice, before returning to the start via another GPS route. All sizes of bikes are welcome. This event is the perfect way to shake out the cobwebs from a long winter, and learn some new techniques.
Paris to Dacre Dual Sport Challenge - Date: June 25th-27th, 2010
Start: Burford Fair Grounds (located 10min south of Paris), Ontario
Lunch: Kinmount (TekRider Manufacturing), Ontario
End: Dacre, Ontario
Distance: ~750km
This Paris to Dacre event is a "dual sport" event designed to honour and mimic the achievements of the competitors of the real DAKAR Rally in Europe and Africa and now South America. The Paris to Dacre Ontario (P2D) ride is an example of what each competitor has to complete every day for the complete duration of the rally, and they did it for fifteen days, not just one!
As in the past this years' event is a "Challenge Concept Event". It is not a day tour, it's all about personal and bike preparation, machine reliability, self-sufficiency, teamwork, planning, navigation and camaraderie. Be aware that you will be relying on your partners and yourself to take care of any problems that may arise; we will only be providing assistance in extreme emergency situations. You are responsible for providing your own logistics if you leave the event for any reason, and you are also responsible for providing your own logistics to return from Dacre after the event is over!
Sept 11, 12 – Calabogie Boogie Dualsport
This new Dual Sport ride is an extension of the Calabogie Boogie trail ride, a premier event in the OFTR trail ride series put on by the Bytown Motorcycle Association BMA. Rally Connex in collaborating with the BMA's Dual Sport Group have put together a great selection of rides to suit any size Dual Sport bike and all riding abilities. Bring a friend for this amazing weekend of riding on trails and back roads. The Calabogie Boogie Trail ride is also based out of the same location so there will be no lack of off-road enthusiasm in the air.
The choice is yours as to what type of riding to do from the most aggressive trail riding Ontario has to offer to scenic tours of the countryside. If you want to do some of each type of riding, that's fine too.
The two Dual Sport ride options "stock tire" and "aggressive" are GPS rides while the trail riding options are arrowed, mapped and rated for distance and difficulty. You can switch between Trail riding, Stock DS and Aggressive DS anytime between the three sessions: Saturday am, Saturday pm and Sunday am.
September 18th and 19th - Corduroy Enduro/trail ride/dualsport.
Another two day festival of dirt biking, centered out of Gooderham, near Haliburton. Again, camping on site, and motels are about 20 north in Haliburton.
