WAWA SNOW DOWN A SUCCESS See you in 2017.
Despite the cold conditions and the long trek to central Ontario's hidden gem Wawa, the Snow Down was a great success. Snowmobilers from all around Ontario attended the 1st Annual event held by the Municipality of Wawa and hosted by yours truly Rally Connex.
The two day adventure started with a 140km loop from Wawa to Hawk Junction. Filled with deep powder Boondocking, twisty groomed trails and scenic outlooks mixed in with some Wawa history. Day two held even more incredible vistas, frozen lake crossings and back country trails all the way up to Dubreuilville and back to Wawa. Lets not to forget about the great reception the riders received from the Wawa Winter Carnival with a large fire works display and even larger bonfire on Friday Night.
Many riders handed in there answer sheets that where stacked with fun Boondocking challenges, object finds, photo drops and much more. Thanks to GPS technology, the lead riders, support & sweep crews where tracked the entire time for everyone back at home base to keep an eye on. Every rider returned safe and sound after there adventure. Riders left both days at 10am and returned around 4pm to 5pm in time for great food and fun from the Wawa Motor Inn. Many funny stories where told at the awards presentation and great suggestions where made by fellow riders for another Snow Down in 2016.
Plans have already been discussed by Rally Connex and the Town of Wawa for a possible Snow Down 2016! Things like, More Boondocking, new trails and a possible banquet style dinner after the ride. To view the 2015 riders submissions photos click here. Congratulations to the winners of the event and everyone that participated in the ride.
Another big thanks goes out to our sponsors: Jones Power Sports, Wawa Motor Inn, Klim Canada, Beaver Motel, MacIntyre Trucking & Concrete, Motonation Canada, Martin Media Productions, Wawa BIA and JJam FM. Stay tuned to the Snow Down event page for more info on dates and times for next years 2016 Wawa Snow Down.

EASTERN ONTARIO ADVENTURE RALLY WAS A KICK A#@ TIME!
The EOAR is part of the OFTR Dual Sport Series this year. James Simzer from the Federation wrote up this great little event review below. Rally Connex would like to thank the OFTR for there continued support in the Dual Sporting community.
OFTR Director’s Ride Report:
With four unique route options, I chose to ride my KTM 1190 in the Gravel and Pavement group. The ride is open to all motorcycle types and this year attracted 60 riders.
Riders gathered Friday night at Elmhurst Resort in Keen, Ontario to get set up for the weekend. The riders’ meeting kicked off at 9:00pm; routes were introduced, selected and loaded to our GPS’s.
Saturday morning groups geared up, discussed safety procedures and headed out.
Leaving the resort we immediately headed north through Rockcroft, Gooderham, Toryhill before our lunch in Coe Hill. After lunch it was winding through L’Amable, Ormsby, Glanmire and Millbridge on our way back to the resort. Our route was an excellent mix of winding pavement and gravel roads through a very picturesque part of Ontario.
The post ride BBQ at the hanger was one of the highlights of the event.
EAOR offers something for everyone, riders and spouses. I am looking forward to next year’s ride and setting my spouse up for a little R&R in the spa.
Check OFTR’s upcoming Trail Ride and Dual Sport series rides on our calendar of events.

ROCK HOUND RALLY ROCKS THE HOUSE!
This year's 2013 Rally Connex Apex Rock Hound Rally rocked the house and by the house we mean the greater part of Cloyne ON. The Rally / Trail Ride hosted over 230km of rocky hydro line, river crossings and beautiful, scenic vistas. As usual, the ride was navigated by Rally Connex's signature GPS routes. An added bonus in this year's event was a completely separate Dual Sport, stock tire friendly road ride. Both groups navigated their way through various skill testing missions to obtain points for their overall score and a chance to win top prizes. Everything from huge rocky hill climbs, photos of hidden hunt camps and even a swim in the lake, gave riders the winning advantage.
Friday afternoon the riders rolled into the Loons Call Campground & Resort to find a welcome laneway full of sponsor tents and banners, supplied by our supporting companies. We even had a HUGE KLIM arch that let you know you were at the all mighty ROCK HOUND RALLY! Registration opened shortly after 7pm and the riders received their number plate stickers, mission sheets and a GPS seminar.
Saturday morning the riders left through the KLIM archway and were headed for their fun filled adventure. The Dual sport riders started off with a nice, scenic road-ride to lunch but the Rally / Trail Riders had to contend with Killer Lake Trail! A trail that runs though tumultuous forest, branching rivers and lakes. Rocky uphills and deep water crossings quickly informed the riders that they where in for the ride of the year. Multiple GPS routes divided up the missions and challenges throughout the day. Even the lunch stop had you thinking about answers to questions.
The afternoon ride back was a little longer than the morning and packed with advanced rider challenges like the Apex Rock Hill Climb, The 2 Wheel Motorsports Beach Run Challenge and the Rally Connex Water under the Bridge Challenge! Once returning back to the Campground through the large KLIM Finish Line Arch, an overwhelming feeling of accomplishment and fulfillment came over the riders. Later that night dinner consisted of a home cooked meal and corn roast, followed up by a rockin live band. Blazing bon fires, cold drinks and sharing stories of the fun filled day was on the dessert menu. Wait.... Just when you thought the ride was over riders had a choice to complete the 50km night loop challenge in order to grab their last chance at bonus points.
Sunday morning the riders had a chance to sleep in and get a nice breakfast before the award ceremony at 10am. The winners were announced and loads of prizes given away. Nobody left empty handed. Congratulations to Dual Sport competitor Heather Seeler for being the winner of her class. Top spot in the Rally Class was given to the team consisting of Sean Dennie, Shawn Hall & Joel Castonguaay. Only 10 points separated them from the previous champions, Team Maria's Pizza (Rome Haloftis, Graham McGregor & Barry Armstrong) After the prizes where finished, riders where invited to ride either a 100km dual sport road ride or a 80km knarly trail ride lead by RC Riders Kevin Burnett, Laura Penwell & Lee Martin.
Rally Connex would like to thank APEX Cycle for head sponsoring this event and a special thanks to all the volenteers that came out to help make this event such a success. In conclusion, if you didn't get a chance to come out to the Rock Hound Rally this year, I highly recommend joining one of our other two 2013 rides. The Corduroy Trail Ride and Dual Sport Tour or our Fall Colours Ride. Both great events, but it's hard to beat the All mighty ROCK HOUND RALLY.
